Located at over 9300 feet above sea level, visitors are advised to take it easy for their first hours in town so they can acclimate to the lack of oxygen. Cotopaxi: The world's tallest active volcano is the focus of the Cotopaxi National Park located near Latacunga. El Cajas National Park: If you thought trout fishing could only be found Montana, then you've never experience the trout fishing in the El Cajas National Park. Come for the hiking, the camping and the almost 300 lakes and waterfalls.
Malecón 2000: El Malecón is the miles-long boardwalk that follows the shores of the Guayas River in Guayaquil. Well-guarded by the local police, this is a safe place to gather, shop, dine in small cafés, or enjoy an after-dinner drink at one of the bars along the waterfront.
Galapagos
Galapagos Archipelago: The 19 Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador part of the world's second largest marine and wildlife reserve. Visitors can take guided tours around the different islands and enjoy opportunities to photograph the many species that call these islands home. There are even opportunities to snorkel and dive among the sea lions, penguins, turtles and sharks in the waters surrounding the archipelago. While some areas are protected from visitors there are many special things to do in Ecuador's island nature preserve.
Beaches: Lying on the Pacific, Ecuador's coastline is graced by many beautiful beaches and a few islands. Salinas is a beach resort town, popular for its surfing, kayaking, hang-gliders, Jet Skies and opportunities to whale watch.
Ecuador's Spas: There are a number of spas in Ecuador that specialize and use tried and true native techniques. Schedule a day or a week to experience mind and body-rejuvenating treatments, guaranteed to make you feel like a new person.
