Influenced by many of the oldest cultures in Europe the tourist attractions in Denmark are as impressive as those found in Italy, Spain and England. The early Dane, natives of Denmark, were sea-faring folks who brought the art of ship-building to a new height. Many things to do in Denmark are related to this sea faring history, but there are many other things to do as well.
Ertebolle Stone Age Center: Hands-on exhibits allow visitors to feel the history of ancient Denmark. First discovered in the 1890's this small site provides a look at how early settlers lived and worked. Walk through the village where once the primeval forest edged close and the coastline provided mussels and oysters. A world-renowned archeological site, Ertebolle exhibits stone and bone tools as well as a reconstructed home that overlooks the Lim Fiord.
Little Mermaid
Copenhagen: Rain or shine a canal tour begins from one of many locations throughout the city. Tour guides provide information to guests in many different languages. Skagen Beach: Water sports are probably not some of the things you would expect to find popular in this northern country. Skagen Beach is where the North Sea meets the Baltic Ocean and produces crashing waves. An artist colony was located here in the early 1800's and has produced some of the fine art located in small museums in the area. The ever-shifting sands reclaimed the church built for patron St. Laurence. Only the tower of the Ken tilsandende Kirke remains above the sand.
Odense: One of the most interesting tourist attractions in Denmark for children is taking a tour of the childhood home of Hans Christian Anderson while visiting Odense. Egeskov Castle is more than a museum; the castle still has permanent residents. Spend the day having a wild and wet time at Friluftsbadet, an indoor water park. Komwell Kellers Park feels that all aspects of wellness are important. Here you can experience massages of all types including Swedish, lymphatic and scalp, relax in a Jacuzzi or swim off your stress. Many resorts and motels offer spa treatments to their guests.
Shopping: Hunting for antiques in Denmark will be easy. Shops, specialty boutiques and street vendors have artifacts and historic replicas for sale.
