Playa Colorado Mochima National Park: Tucked in between Cumana and Puerto La Cruz along the Caribbean coast you'll find this pristine landscape. White sandy beaches await you highlighted with sunsets that will take your breath away. Wildlife is abundant with schools of dolphins to be seen along the sweeping expanse of tropical coastline. The mountains come down to the sea in this unique national park.

Angel Falls: This amazing waterfall, also known as Parakupa-vena, meaning "the highest point", is the tallest in the world. Rising over 3,000 feet, Angel Falls can be found in the Canaima National Park, which is in the state of Bolivar. The waterfall is so high that much of the falling water is actually blown away as a mist into the atmosphere before it can hit the rocks at the bottom.

Museum of Ceramics: Anyone who has an appreciation for ceramic art will want to spend an entire day at this wonderful museum. Built in the 18th century in Coro, the architecture is stunning in itself. Wide ranges of historic and native ceramics take you through the history of ceramic art in Venezuela. Admission is free and the museum is not open on Mondays so plan accordingly.

Children's Museum: Found in Caracas, the Children's museum was created in 1982 with the main intention of childhood education in the areas of arts, culture, science and technology. You'll see over 500 exhibits, and don't miss the Planetarium. Young and old will all find something fascinating in the guided tours which are tailored for young visitors.

Iglesia de San Francisco: If you're looking for architecture which truly reflects the colonial style of Venezuela, this unique church has it all. Originally built in the 1570s, it suffered some damage over the years until its reconstruction in 1641. The baroque altars inside are breathtaking and outside the surrounding landscape reflects all the beauty of this tropical paradise.

Margarita Island: One of Venezuela's many islands, Margarita Island is a popular tourist and local attraction. With over 50 beaches, this island can take days to explore. The downtown area boasts the wares of talented artists and crafters who create weavings, hand-crafted items and other souvenirs you won't want to miss. Explore the forested areas which are teaming with a wide array of colorful birds and lush plant life.

Pico Bolivar: The highest mountain top in Venezuela, the Pico Bolivar rises over 3 miles into the sky. This mountain is always snow-covered and is being slowly carved by 3 glaciers, an amazing sight in this tropical country. The mountain can be reached by first taking a cable car to Pico Espejo and then climbing the rest of the way. It will be worth it to see the breathtaking view.

Coro Dunes: Sand dunes in the tropics? Yes, the dunes of Coro are a complete break from the jungle and ocean vistas. The trade winds are responsible for the accumulation of the sand of the dunes and constantly sculpt the landscape. Humidity is extremely low year round and temperatures are mild. Since tourists are allowed to do so, you really must walk the dunes and experience this wonder up close.
