Things to Do in Texas

The things to do in Texas come in all shapes and sizes. Texas is so huge that the most western city of El Paso is actually closer to California than it is to Dallas. In a state that huge, you can't imagine the amusements, nature adventures, historical and cultural attractions that can fill up your vacation.

Austin Texas is the state's capital and one of the fastest growing areas in the country. The best attractions and landmarks are the Governor's Mansion, Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. You'll also want to visit the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, the Zilker Zephyr Miniature Train and the Austin Bats.

Arlington Texas the home of the Dallas Cowboys' new stadium will draw many more visitors than ever before. These visitors will also visit the Rangers Ballpark, Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor. With plenty of shopping opportunities, five star hotels and situated between Dallas and Ft Worth, there are an unlimited variety of things to see and do.

Canton Texas is a small town whose one claim to fame and draw for visitors is First Monday Trade Days. This is a huge flea market that is held the weekend of the first Monday of the month. Antique dealers come from all over Texas and surrounding states to buy and sell. It really does have to be experienced at least once.

Located on the Gulf of Mexico, Corpus Christi Texas has all the activities one would expect to find in a beach town. There's also Captain Clark's Flagship Sightseeing Tours, Texas State Aquarium and the Asian Cultures Museum & Educational Center. You'll also enjoy the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History the Corpus Christi Botanical Garden.

Dallas Texas is part of a large metropolitan area that offers visitors a wide choice of lodging, dining and entertainment options. Some of the attractions we recommend are the Zero Gravity Thrill Amusement Park Dallas, the Dallas World Aquarium and the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Those who remember JFK will also want to visit the Sixth Floor Museum located in the old Texas School Book Depository.

Fort Worth Texas is the wilder more Western city in the DFW metroplex; therefore it's a must that you visit the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District. You'll also find Log Cabin Village fascinating if you are interested in life in the 1800's. Fort Worth is also home to Bass Performance Hall and the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and the Sid Richardson Collection of Western Art museum.

When you visit Fredericksburg Texas you will find an amazing array of attractions and things to do. A few of our favorites are: National Museum of the Pacific War, Rancho Ponte Vineyards, Wildseed Farms, the Pioneer Museum Complex, Fredericksburg Herb Farm, the Vereins Kirche Museum and the Enchanted Rock State Natural Area.

On a Galveston vacation you'll find plenty to do on this island off the coast of Texas. There's the Texas Seaport Museum a fun and informative maritime museum. Surprisingly, on an island surrounded by water, you'll find the Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark. Next visit Moody Gardens, Sea Wolf Park, the Treasure Isle Tour Train and The Strand.

Houston Texas, the largest city in Texas is a bustling, cosmopolitan and exciting place to vacation. Here are the top rated attractions: the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center, the Holocaust Museum Houston, Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, National Museum of Funeral History and, of course, the Johnson Space Center.

South Padre Island Texas is one of the most popular spring break destinations for college students. In addition to all the usual beach and water activities, there are many other attractions to entertain, such as: Island Equestrian Center, Colley's Fins to Feathers, Breakaway Cruises and Dolphin Research and Sea Life Nature Center.
