El Yunque National Forest: The "Forest of Clouds" was once known as the Caribbean National Forest. This area contains many species of animals and birds that are found no where else in the world. A tropical forest, this wildlife area has been protected for over 100 years. You can ride through the park on horseback or walk one of the many trails. Camping sites are also available.
San Juan: This city is home to the main entry port to the island. The hustle and bustle of this diverse town is evident in the seven plazas, where people-watching is the favorite past-time. Visit El Morro, a Spanish fort that gives you a glimpse into the island's past. Dine in luxury or shop in one of the many specialty boutiques that are found in the Condado area. Green space abounds in this area nestled among the historic mansions.
Museums: Children of all ages will find the replicas of ships that once ruled the seas fun to explore at the Arecibo Lighthouse and Historical Park. The lighthouse is still in use and is over 100 years old. The Caparra Ruins Historical Museum and Park stands on the grounds where the first settlement of Puerto Rico was founded by Ponce de Leon. Sports: Sports are often popular attractions in Puerto Rico. Golfers will find the 18-hole course at Bahia Beach Plantation Golf Course as beautiful as it is challenging. El Yunque Forest provides the backdrop for this course that features freshwater lakes, ocean views and water hazards. Alberque Olimpico is where you will find the Puerto Rican Museum of Sports and a water park. Tennis, bowling and Auto racing at Caribbean Raceway Park are just a few of the things active guests will find to do.
Educational: The largest radio telescope is located in Aricebo. The Aricebo Observatory provides visitors with interactive displays and self-guided tours of the observatory that tracks asteroids, investigates pulsars and helps gather information for SETI. Take a ferry ride to Caja de Muertos, an island reserve off the coast of La Guancha. Spend the afternoon at Cartagena Lagoon and Nature Reserve observing the large avian population or visit Gilligan's Island where you can pretend you have been lost at sea. Walk underground exploring the vast cave systems at Las Cavernas de Camuy. Only seven miles of cave tunnels have been mapped including sink holes, bat entrances and breathtaking stalactites.
Nightlife: From Club Lazer's view of San Juan to the Blue Dolphin's tropical music the nightlife in Puerto Rico is as varied as its people. Merengue bands play all night at Holly's Disco while Café Matisse offers poetry readings, live rock and roll, and jazz music.
